Walls to Workstations (W2W) was appointed as a specialist sub-contractor for the Block D2 East Road residential development. Our scope involved the delivery of 88 Winter Garden glazed zones, a core architectural feature designed to provide residents with flexible, light-filled living spaces that adapt to the Irish seasons.
In this development, the Winter Gardens are designed as high-performance “buffer zones” between the internal living area and the building’s external skin. Using the PCTS Vista folding wall system, W2W created a secondary glazed partition that allows residents to open their living space to the fresh air or close it to create a quiet, thermally efficient sunroom.

Challenges and Solutions
Year-Round Usability: The “Winter Garden” concept was chosen to ensure residents had a usable “outdoor” experience regardless of the weather. W2W implemented the PCTS Vista system to offer maximum transparency. When closed, these walls create a sun-drenched extension of the living room; when open, they allow for full natural ventilation, effectively bringing the outside in.
Acoustic & Environmental Shielding: Located in the heart of the North Docklands, acoustic performance was a priority. When the folding walls are closed, they provide a high-level acoustic barrier against city noise, ensuring the apartment remains a quiet sanctuary. The system also acts as a thermal buffer, helping to regulate the apartment’s temperature throughout the year.
High-Volume Residential Precision: Installing 88 units across a live residential site required meticulous coordination. W2W worked closely with Bennett Construction Ltd to ensure each folding wall was perfectly integrated into the apartment’s interior finishes, providing a flush, high-end threshold for every resident.
